We had a successful picking session on 7 January, in much nicer weather than expected, though there were still icy patches on some of the paths and car parks.

The River Ver is a chalk stream, a globally rare habitat, one of only 260 in the world - and nine times rarer than a giant panda! England is home to 85% of chalk streams and the Ver is one of several flowing across Hertfordshire.

Every year, in April and May, many of our woodland floors are transformed into a stunning blue carpet of flowers.
In September 2025, we removed brambles that were covering the few patches of bluebells that exist in Verulamium Park.
